At dawn, the mountains of southern Brazil reveal nature in its most exuberant colors. The first rays of sunlight bring a deep reddish glow, transforming the landscape into something warmer, more vivid, and almost dreamlike. In the highlands of Serra Gaúcha, the colors and forms of the terrain evoke distant southern landscapes, with tones that recall the atmosphere of Patagonia.
Part of the Elemental series, Red Tree explores the relationship between the human figure and the natural environment through ideas of mimicry, camouflage, and symbiosis. The body becomes visually absorbed by the landscape, no longer separate from nature, but integrated into its rhythm, texture, and light.
This work speaks of harmony, belonging, and the silent power of living in synchronicity with the natural world.
Photographed in 2000 with a Hasselblad camera on Fuji Velvia 50 ISO color transparency film, known for its exceptional saturation and definition. The original film was digitized in CMYK using a Hell cylindrical scanner, preserving the richness and depth required for large-format fine art prints on 315 gsm or heavier museum-quality paper.
