Photographed in 2010 during two journeys through the Atacama Desert, Chile, this collection presents the delicate and surprising presence of flamingos in one of the most arid landscapes on Earth.

Found in the shallow waters of Laguna Chaxa, within the vast Salar de Atacama, and also in the remote Salar de Tara, high in the Andes near the Bolivian border, these birds bring movement, color, and life to a landscape shaped by salt, altitude, silence, and volcanic horizons.

In the Atacama, the flamingos appear almost like living brushstrokes across the mineral surface of the desert. Their elegant bodies, reflected in the still waters of the lagoons, create a poetic contrast with the harshness of the environment. Between white salt crusts, intense blue skies, distant mountains, and the thin air of the Altiplano, they reveal the fragile balance between wilderness and survival.
